A company based in New York, USA, called Synchron, has developed a groundbreaking technology designed primarily for people with physical disabilities. This new innovation allows users to control their smart devices through their thoughts. More specifically, the technology enables individuals to control Apple devices.
The device created by Synchron, called the Synchron Switch, works with a series of sensors implanted into the brain via a blood vessel, known as a stentrode. The device is controlled wirelessly from the patient’s chest. Currently, Synchron is keeping the functionality simple. Rather than attempting complex tasks like playing pong with their minds or typing 20 words per minute, the device is trained to recognize brain signals for simpler actions like a foot tap.
